Where’s Your Will? Store it safely in the WA Will Bank
Despite people diligently investing time and money to maintain a current and valid Will, Wills sometimes cannot be found. Sadly, the Public Trustee receives many calls each week from distressed relatives unable to locate their loved one's Will in the hope that we may have it. Often, we do not and its whereabouts is anyone's guess.
The WA Will Bank is a community service that safely stores Western Australian Wills in a purpose-built, fire-proof vault, keeping them safe from loss, theft or damage.
The WA Will Bank offers a single, logical and convenient place people can think of when looking for a Will, and one that will be around long after you're gone.
By creating a Will and keeping it in a safe place where your loved ones will find it, you will also prevent the situation where you are deemed to have died intestate (without a Will), resulting in the law deciding how your estate is divided and who your beneficiaries are.
The service is free if you deposit your Will personally. A storage and processing fee of $195 applies if a third party deposits a Will.
To store your Will in the WA Will Bank, complete the lodgement form and take this with your Will and two types of current identification to the Public Trustee at 565 Hay Street, Perth.
You may also send your Will by registered post. Your ID will need to be sighted and signed by a Justice of the Peace.
If your Will is stored in the WA Will Bank, but you then create a later Will elsewhere, please telephone our Client Service Centre on 1300 746 116 to advise that the Will we have stored has been superseded.
